What Gets Deleted
When you request account deletion, the following data will be permanently and irreversibly removed from Hitchly's systems:
- Your profile — name, phone number, and profile picture
- Your complete ride history (as driver and co-rider)
- All in-app chat messages and communications
- Your live location tracking data
- Your ratings, reviews, and preferences
- Any regular route or scheduled ride preferences
How to Delete Your Account
Hitchly uses OTP-based phone number authentication. To verify ownership and prevent unauthorized deletion, please follow these steps:
- Open the Hitchly app and go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- Alternatively, send a deletion request email to hitchlyride@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".
- In the email body, include your registered phone number (the one you used to sign up) so we can locate your account.
- We will confirm receipt within 2 business days and complete the full deletion within 14 business days.
⚠ This action is irreversible. Once your account is deleted, your data cannot be recovered. Any active rides will be cancelled. If you later wish to use Hitchly again, you will need to create a new account.
Data We Cannot Delete
In limited circumstances, certain data may be retained as required by law:
- Transaction records required for financial compliance or tax obligations
- Data that is part of an ongoing legal dispute or law enforcement request
- Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you
